We will continue to develop Terrene Reverbaration! (1st devlog)


Hi! This is my 1st devlog. I sure hope you'll enjoy it!

I'd like to announce, that me and @Mermalade (@MermaladeJar on Twitter) will continue to develop Terrene Reverbaration. Here's what's it about:

What is Terrene Reverbaration?

Terrene Reverbaration started as a small game on TriJam, made only in 3h in Godot engine. I'll leave that version up so it stays there forever as a reminder where it all started :). It's a doodle-jump inspired platformer, where your planet has exploded and you have to jump on remaining pieces to survive. It's that simple.

What we have done and what will we do now?

We decided to do the game from scratch, while the TriJam version was great, it was quite a mess in code and we'd like to have entirely different feeling for the game. Ideally we want to create a game where you can relax, but yet it's challenging, that's why we changed the control scheme of the character.

We feel like, the control scheme is a keeper - it's an virtual analog stick, if you move it, the protagonist will jump in that direction - simple as that, playable with 1 finger, as mobile games should be! Also this scheme let's you stop and think about your next step. 

In the original version - I just copy/pasted the platforms at a random places, they all were StaticBody2D which is extremely bad for moving platforms, and the level eventually ends. The new version has chunks (3 currently) of platforms that will spawn randomly in endless mode ranging from easy chunks to hard (currently there are only easy level chunks, as you see in attached video it's hard to loose). The platforms have been fixed to sync with physics, and overall it has a better feel.

Till next week we plan to have other types of platforms and more level chunks to enjoy!

Feature plan (subject to change, of course!):

1) Endless mode with a lot of different platforms

2) Story mode (yes we have a story in mind, and we'll like to share it with you)

3) Collectibles that serve as power-ups (or power-downs) in game, and as currency to get other protagonists and galaxies

4) Different kinds of protagonists and galaxies for story mode and variety

5) Integration with google play services and game center

6) Game experience that is mostly relaxing

The release plan (without any specific date):

1) Public Alpha on itch.io page (release a build every week on Saturday)

2) Public Beta on Google Play early access (and if we can figure it out also on iOS)

3) Realease it on Android and iOS

4) We'll keep other platform versions here on itch.io after public release, because it's awesome.
